DMG MORI Open House Showcases Five World Premieres

DMG MORI hosted its annual Open House event in Pfronten from February 10 to 21, 2025, continuing a 30-year tradition of showcasing innovation in the manufacturing industry. The event brought together customers, suppliers, and trade professionals to experience its Machining Transformation (MX) model and explore the latest advancements in machining technology. Five world premieres were among the highlights, demonstrating DMG MORI's commitment to precision, productivity, and sustainability.

"For our customers today and in the future, it is all about creating quality-oriented, competitive and sustainable production. With decades of experience in industries such as Aviation & Space, Die & Mold, Semiconductor as well as in classic Mechanical Engineering, DMG MORI offers solutions based on the Machining Transformation (MX) model," says Cornelius Nöß, Managing Director of DMG MORI Pfronten GmbH. Process integration increases efficiency by bundling machining steps such as milling, turning and grinding. Examples of this are the DMC 125 FDS duoBLOCK shown at the Open House in Pfronten and the CTX gamma 2000 TC. Automation creates continuous machine availability and therefore higher production capacities, as the Robo2Go Max demonstrates live on the CTX gamma 2000 TC. Digital Transformation (DX) supports technology cycles with the CELOS X widgets for more efficient planning and simulation of production processes. Together, these pillars and additional measures, such as the adaptive coolant supply, promote the Green Transformation (GX), i.e. more sustainable production with reduced energy consumption. DMG MORI is presenting the complete PH Cell series for pallet handling from 300 to 2,000 kg transfer weight as well as the PH Cell Twin for linking two machines for 24/7 production and increasing spindle running times. The new e-PALLET system revolutionizes the classic machine table, enables the use of smart clamping devices and uses intelligent software. It also increases flexibility and optimizes processes. The intuitive operation is complemented by the Clamping Master.

World premiere: DMU 60 eVo 2. Generation

With the DMU 60 eVo 2. Generation, DMG MORI is setting new standards in 5-axis universal machining and a milestone for precision and productivity. Based on the unique table kinematics, the proven machine concept has been fundamentally further developed to meet the increasing demands for precision, dynamics and flexibility. This is why the DMU 60 eVo 2. Generation successfully utilizes DMG MORI's Machining Transformation (MX) concept: The machine integrates manufacturing processes such as mill-turn machining, gear hobbing using the gearSKIVING technology cycle and grinding. This process integration transforms the DMU 60 eVo 2. Generation into a multifunctional machining solution that can be flexibly adapted to a wide range of requirements and industries and exploits the full potential of future-oriented machining technology. Intelligent automation solutions optimize machine utilization around the clock if required. Modern control options - a SINUMERIK One and a HEIDENHAIN TNC 7 - on CELOS X pave the way for Digital Transformation (DX).

World premiere: ULTRASONIC 20 linear 3. Generation

The new ULTRASONIC 20 linear 3. Generation for ultrasonic-supported grinding proves once again that DMG MORI also continues to develop proven technologies with a high degree of innovative strength. The machine tool manufacturer has completely revised the world premiere with the experience gained from 600 installed predecessor models and entered a new sphere of positioning accuracy. 3 µm in the linear axes and 3" in the rotary swivel axis surpass even µPrecision technology. Equipped with ULTRASONIC technology, the most precise 5-axis simultaneous machining center from DMG MORI revolutionizes ultrasonic-supported milling and optional grinding of advanced materials such as glass, ceramics and sophisticated composites for the semiconductor industry. The ultrasonic superimposition of the tool rotation with amplitudes of up to 15 µm reduces process forces by 50% and enables higher feed rates, improved surface finishes and longer tool life as required. More information about this machine can be found here.

World premiere: DMX 60 U / DMX 80 U

Based on the proven and robust design of the 3-axis DMV vertical milling machines, DMG MORI has developed the DMX 60 U and DMX 80 U for 5-sided machining of complex workpieces weighing up to 300 and 350 kg respectively. With travels of 600 x 600 x 510 mm for the DMX 60 U and 800 x 600 x 510 mm for the larger model, the new universal machining centers cover a wide range of components in general mechanical engineering, die & mold and other demanding industries. The monolithic machine bed made of solid cast components and the wide roller guides form the basis for high precision requirements. They provide the DMX U models with 45% greater rigidity compared to the predecessor series and enable dynamic machining with rapid traverse rates of up to 42 m/min. Comprehensive temperature compensation measures ensure high thermal stability and therefore consistently precise production, while direct position measuring systems and direct drives in the X and Y axes guarantee high positioning accuracy. The circular form accuracy is 6 µm. In addition, the DMX 60 U and DMX 80 U are ideal machines in the context of Machining Transformation (MX) thanks to numerous automation solutions, the CELOS X app-based control system and energy-efficient operation. World premiere: CTX 750|1250

The Machining Transformation (MX), with which DMG MORI is shaping the future of machine tool manufacturing, has a direct influence on product development. This is demonstrated by the sixth generation of CTX universal turning machines. As the latest addition to the series, the CTX 750|1250 sets new standards in the areas of performance, precision and energy efficiency. On an area of just 11.7 m², it offers sufficient space for ø 700 x 1,290 mm workpieces. The combination of left and right spindles, the optional Y-axis with +/- 85 mm travel and the driven tools with up to 6,000 rpm ensures productive 6-sided complete machining of demanding geometries with maximum precision using integrated processes. The highly rigid machine concept of the CTX 750|1250, linear guides up to 55 mm wide, integrated cooling measures and direct measuring systems from Magnescale guarantee positioning accuracies of 6 µm and 12". The spindles of the CTX 750|1250 play a major role in the high-performance machining. More information about this machine can be found here.
