BLM GROUP Presents ArGo Programming Solution for 3D Laser Cutting Systems

BLM GROUP’s Software Division has unveiled ArGo, a new CAM programming solution dedicated to 3D laser cutting systems. Developed to manage tubes and complex three-dimensional metal profiles — including deep-drawn, stamped, die-cast, and hydroformed parts — ArGo ensures full integration with other BLMelements applications. ArGo bridges the gap between the offline programming environment and real-world machine operations with a modern and intuitive interface.

ArGo leverages BLM GROUP’s two decades of experience in tube processing. It automatically identifies machined, cut, and bent parts, incorporating machining rules, cutting parameters, section definitions, axes, and bends. This contributes to enhanced All-In-One functionality by integrating tube bending and Lasertube operations. The software calculates material elongation and adjusts cutting geometry to ensure first-part accuracy. Users can determine whether cutting should occur before or after bending, even in curved tube sections.

Reverse Engineering Capabilities

The software includes reverse engineering features that allow reading of existing part programs. This enables the reconstruction of a complete project based on an already machined part and the ability to transfer machine-applied offsets back to the office model.

Ease of Use

A key strength of ArGo lies in its advanced human-machine interface, which supports programming for the entire cell — including both the laser cutting machine and the positioning robot. ArGo allows flexible reconfiguration, enabling users to process the same or multiple parts across different cells. For existing BLM GROUP customers, ArGo integrates seamlessly with other BLMelements tools, such as ArTube, the CAD/CAM software for designing and manipulating tubular components.

Efficiency and Automation

ArGo facilitates offline programming and rapid synchronization with machines, improving workflow efficiency. It calculates optimal, collision-free tool paths and automatically generates part support templates. For curved tubes, it detects sections and bending axes automatically, simplifying the definition of gripping points along the curve. ArGo supports machining of both fixed and robot-held moving parts.

Integrated Workflow

The software enables comprehensive production process management through a proprietary offline programming solution. This ensures seamless synergy between software and machinery across the production line.

Digital Twin Functionality

Users can create a digital twin of the machine configuration, replicating the exact physical layout of devices within the workspace. This ensures precise alignment between the virtual and physical environments.

Scalable and Cost-Effective

ArGo is designed to be scalable and customizable, with built-in upgrade management. Maintenance and software upgrades can be efficiently handled via BLMportal, offering a streamlined service experience.

The Name Behind ArGo

The name ArGo continues BLM GROUP’s tradition of classical references, following Prometheus, the group’s MES for production management. "Argo" invokes both the faithful dog of Ulysses and the mythical ship of Jason, symbolizing loyalty, guidance, and purposeful motion — reflecting the software’s reliability and dynamic capabilities. The "go" suffix emphasizes movement and operational flow.

ArGo stands as a powerful companion for modern laser cutting operations, aligning advanced technology with practical usability.
