Hermle brings entry-level C 250 machining centre to market
Hermle AG has added the C 250 to the C 400, which it launched in 2012, and, in the process, created a brand new series. The series is arranged below the double-digit series with its C 12, C 22, C 32, C 42, C 52 and C 62 models, but is in no way inferior. In fact, the only thing different between them is the equipment variance, the price and, of course, the name.
The C 250, just like the C 400, comes with Hermle's tried-and-tested modified gantry design and a mineral casting machine bed. With the 3-axis version, the integrated rigid clamping table is suitable for workpieces weighing up to 1100 kg (600 x 550 x 450 mm). The high precision machining of workpieces weighing up to 300 kg (Ø 450 x 355 mm) is possible on the NC swivelling rotary table of the 5-axis version. The traverse paths inside the stainless steel-clad working area are 600 x 550 x 450 mm for a vertical table clearance of 550 mm and a 688mm door opening. Ideal conditions for safe and simple crane loading.
Tools galore
The C 250 boasts an integrated tool magazine for 30 tools. Two additional magazines with 50 or 88 additional pockets can be optionally adapted. The control panel of the C 250 is also pivotable from the working area to the tool loading point, thus allowing the operator to enter tool data information directly into the tool table in the control.
The C 250 is equipped as standard with the Heidenhain TNC 640 and offers the entire scope of programming features provided by this proven high-end control unit. The control panel comes with a large, full colour 19" TFT flat panel monitor and can be optionally equipped with an ergonomically designed control panel for greater operator comfort. Proven Hermle setups are integrated into the control unit and provide the operator with optimum support for complex milling tasks. Application of HIMS (Hermle "Information-Monitoring-Software") is also guaranteed at the C 250.
In case service is required, the Hermle "Maintenance-Diagnostic-System" is available in order to constantly monitor the machine status. This facilitates efficient diagnostics and status-oriented maintenance in the unlikely event of malfunctioning.
