Paul Horn will use AMB 2026 in Stuttgart to demonstrate tooling in live machining applications. The company will present standard tools, bespoke solutions and new developments in operation rather than as static exhibits. At its 500-square-metre stand in Hall 1, J10, Horn plans to operate three machines. The focus is on making machining processes directly visible to visitors.
Held in even-numbered years, AMB brings together products, technologies, services, training and personal exchange for the metalworking sector. The exhibition gives users, manufacturers and decision-makers an overview of developments in machining and manufacturing technology. Horn’s stand concept connects the exhibition setting with practical shop-floor conditions. The machines in operation will support discussions about tool applications and machining requirements.
New chip-forming geometries for S274
A central product development at the stand is the expansion of the S274 tool system for parting-off and turning. Horn is introducing new sintered chip-forming geometries. They are designed to improve chip control and process reliability, particularly on Swiss-type lathes. The additions target cost-effective production where controlled chip formation supports stable processes. For grooving and parting-off, Horn is extending the .1A chip-forming geometry. The new versions have grooving widths of 0.8 mm and 0.6 mm. According to Horn, they reduce material loss while supporting reliable chip formation. The inserts are available as type RS274 and type RE274. The RE274 version has a pressed-in threaded insert for RH274 clamping holders. Both variants are available in the carbide grades TH35 and IG35.
The system expansion also includes the .NF and .PR geometries. The .NF version is intended for grooving and sliding-head turning. The .PR geometry is designed for reverse turning. Both geometries cover feed rates from 0.02 to 0.1 mm/rev. They are suitable for a range of materials. Therefore, users have further options for matching chip formation to each operation and machine configuration.
Specialist themes and engagement with young people
Alongside the tool systems and live machining demonstrations, Horn will address specialist themes, including Defence and Aerospace, at AMB 2026. No individual applications or products are specified for these sectors. However, their inclusion reflects the broader range of manufacturing topics planned for the stand.
The Saturday programme will also include Horn’s participation in the parent-child rally. The activity is intended to encourage young people to take an interest in mechanical engineering and manufacturing technology. It will also make industrial practice more accessible. In an exhibition environment focused on equipment, processes and professional exchange, the initiative adds an educational element for visitors at an earlier stage of their connection with the sector. Horn will exhibit in Hall 1 at stand J10.
