TRUMPF is introducing a new generation of its TruLaser 5000 laser cutting series at EuroBLECH 2026. The development focuses on making production losses more visible. Integrated cameras, sensors and live machine data show where interruptions or deviations occur. This information is intended to support faster intervention, higher machine availability and more efficient use of laser cutting capacity.
Laser cutting operations are often already highly productive. Therefore, attention shifts to smaller but recurring sources of lost production time. These can include cutting interruptions, collisions, nozzle contamination and delays in responding to machine events. The new TruLaser 5000 combines live camera feeds, machine status information and notifications in a central dashboard at the control panel.
The system provides views of the machine interior, including the cutting process and pallet changer. Operators can access the live streams from any location. The dashboard also displays machine status, remaining runtimes and current events. As a result, users can identify when support is needed and supervise several machines in parallel. The approach also gives production managers a clearer basis for analysing downtime. It helps them target improvements where they have the greatest operational effect.
Live data highlights recurring disruptions
A new collision overview forms part of the dashboard. It identifies programs that have caused downtime because of collisions between the nozzle and the sheet. This makes recurring errors easier to trace to individual programs. Users can then take corrective measures before the same issue affects further production runs. The machine also includes three years of Condition Monitoring as standard. This predictive service monitors machine condition and is designed to detect potential failures at an early stage. Its objective is to prevent unplanned downtime and increase availability. This is particularly relevant when laser cutting machines form a central part of the production flow.
The combination of visual information and machine data addresses a practical challenge in automated sheet metal production. A machine may continue to operate without an immediate operator response. However, a developing issue can still affect output, material use or subsequent processes. Camera images and real-time notifications are intended to reduce the time between an event occurring and an employee assessing it. This creates a more direct connection between machine behaviour and operational decision-making.

Assistance systems intervene during cutting
TRUMPF continues to use its established assistance systems in the new series to support process reliability. Active Speed Control monitors the cutting process in real time. It detects quality deviations during machining and automatically adjusts the feed rate. For EuroBLECH 2026, the system has gained an additional function for monitoring nozzle condition during cutting. If contamination is detected, the machine can initiate an inspection cycle. This allows corrective action before contamination leads to scrap.
The function is relevant in unattended or highly automated production. Otherwise, a nozzle issue might only become apparent after parts have been processed. Smart Rerun addresses another common source of interruption. The function automatically detects breaks in the cut and resumes machining at the appropriate point. Combined with Active Speed Control, it enables the TruLaser 5000 to continue production after incorrect cuts without operator intervention. The aim is to reduce stoppages while maintaining a stable cutting process.
The TruLaser 5000 is available with laser power of up to 24 kW. It is intended for common sheet metal materials. Depending on the machine format, it can process sheet sizes ranging from 3 × 1.5 metres to 6 × 2 metres. TRUMPF positions the series for applications ranging from delicate components to large-format parts. These include mechanical engineering, agricultural machinery, commercial vehicle production and contract manufacturing.
