TRUMPF is expanding its 2D laser cutting portfolio with the TruLaser 8000 Power Edition. The machine is equipped with a 50 kW fiber laser. It is designed for economical thick sheet metal processing, including material thicknesses of up to 80 millimetres. Its launch at EuroBLECH 2026 reflects the growing focus on stable, high-output cutting processes for demanding heavy-duty applications.
With 50 kW of laser power, the TruLaser 8000 Power Edition offers more than twice the maximum power previously available in TRUMPF’s machine tool portfolio. The machine is intended for structural steel and stainless steel with thicknesses starting at ten millimetres. Typical users include heavy machinery and plant engineering companies, steel service centres, defence-sector manufacturers and infrastructure businesses.
High laser power alone does not determine productivity in thick sheet cutting. The practical challenge is transferring that power effectively into the material. At the same time, cut quality and process stability must be maintained. TRUMPF therefore positions the machine as more than a higher-power addition. It is designed to combine output with process reliability. This is particularly relevant when thicker materials require longer cycle times. Variations in cut quality can also affect subsequent production steps. Stable cutting conditions therefore remain important throughout the process.

Power transfer for thick sheet laser cutting
The TruLaser 8000 Power Edition is designed to process sheet formats from 3 x 1.5 metres to 8 x 2.5 metres, depending on the version. This range supports applications involving large, heavy components and thicker plate material. TRUMPF states that the machine can cut material up to 80 millimetres thick accurately and productively. For fabricators, the potential benefit of higher laser power is greatest when processing thicker structural steel and stainless steel. At these thicknesses, cutting performance depends on more than the available source power. It also depends on how consistently the machine transfers that energy into the cutting process.
A system that delivers high output but has unstable process conditions can cause interruptions. It may also produce inconsistent edge quality or require additional rework. As a result, power transfer and process stability are central factors in thick sheet laser cutting. TRUMPF emphasises the interaction between laser technology and machine tool engineering in the new model. According to the company, this combination is intended to maintain cutting speed, processing quality and robustness at high power levels. The machine is aimed at manufacturers that want to extend their processing range to thicker materials. This can reduce the need to handle these tasks through a separate production route.

Integrated cameras support production monitoring
Alongside its cutting capacity, the TruLaser 8000 Power Edition includes monitoring functions for machine status and production events. Several integrated cameras show the machine interior, the cutting process and the pallet changer. Operators can access live images remotely. This allows them to investigate faults without relying solely on physical inspection at the machine. The system also includes an additional display at the control panel. This screen can show live streams and data from other machines. It provides a central view of machine status, remaining runtimes and current events. For operations with several laser cutting systems, this can help identify where operator intervention is needed. It also supports parallel monitoring of multiple machines.
Real-time notifications and camera images are intended to reduce the time needed to locate the cause of unplanned stops. TRUMPF also points to system utilisation analyses. These analyses can help identify opportunities to improve operation, availability and productivity. These functions follow an approach similar to that introduced with the new TruLaser 5000 generation. TRUMPF also presented that generation at EuroBLECH 2026. TRUMPF is beginning the market launch of the TruLaser 8000 Power Edition at EuroBLECH 2026. The company plans to present the machine again at its INTECH in-house exhibition in April 2027.
