About this product

CERATIZIT’s WTX drill range is developed for manufacturers that need reliable drilling performance across a wide variety of materials. The range covers universal solid carbide drilling, applications requiring additional tool stability and deep-hole drilling up to high length-to-diameter ratios. With WTX-UNI, WTX-Quattro and WTX-Deep UNI, users can select a drill type based on hole depth, required stability, coolant strategy and material group. The WTX range is designed for precise holes in materials such as steel, stainless steel and cast iron. Depending on the version, the drills can also be used in non-ferrous materials, hardened materials and heat-resistant alloys. The common basis is a solid carbide drill concept with optimised geometries, efficient chip evacuation and coatings developed for tool life and process reliability. WTX-UNI for universal drilling WTX-UNI is the universal solid carbide drill in the range. It is intended for manufacturers that machine different materials and want to reduce the number of drill types in production. The drill is available in 3xD and 5xD versions, with or without through-coolant, and in several shank variants. The geometry is designed for stable entry into the workpiece and reliable chip formation. A convex main cutting edge and a 140-degree point angle support self-centring, while the flute design helps evacuate chips and reduce the risk of chip jamming. This makes WTX-UNI suitable for general drilling operations where flexibility and predictable performance are important. WTX-Quattro for higher stability WTX-Quattro is the high-stability version of the WTX-UNI concept. The main difference is the use of four guide lands. These guide lands improve positional accuracy and support the drill during deeper or more demanding operations. Unlike WTX-UNI, WTX-Quattro is always equipped with coolant holes. The drill is available in 5xD, 8xD and 12xD versions. For the 8xD and 12xD variants, CERATIZIT uses a modified 135-degree point angle. This supports stability and performance when drilling deeper holes. WTX-Quattro is therefore suited to applications where hole quality, alignment and process security are more critical than in standard short-hole drilling. WTX-Deep UNI for deep-hole drilling WTX-Deep UNI extends the WTX range into deep-hole drilling. The drill is designed for hole depths from 16xD up to 50xD, depending on diameter and configuration. It is intended for universal use, with a particular focus on ISO-P steel, ISO-M stainless steel and ISO-K cast iron. In certain applications, it can also be used for ISO-S heat-resistant materials. The drill uses a redesigned geometry, polished chip spaces and an expanding flute design to improve chip flow. Four guide lands support drilling accuracy and help reduce hole deviation. These features are especially important in deep-hole drilling, where chip evacuation, tool stability and coolant supply have a direct influence on process reliability and scrap rate. Materials, carbide and coating The WTX-UNI and WTX-Quattro drills are produced from CERATIZIT’s CT-GS20Y upGRADE carbide, which is based on 99 percent reprocessed material. The drills use DPA74S DRAGONSKIN coating, developed to support tool life and cutting performance. WTX-Deep UNI also focuses on tool life and process reliability in demanding drilling applications. The combination of solid carbide, guide lands, polished chip spaces and high-performance coating is intended to make deep-hole drilling more stable and predictable. Choosing the right WTX drill WTX-UNI is the right starting point for universal drilling in mixed materials and for short holes up to 5xD. WTX-Quattro is the better choice when additional guidance, coolant supply and positional accuracy are needed, especially from 5xD to 12xD. WTX-Deep UNI is intended for deep-hole applications where stable chip evacuation and minimal hole deviation are essential. Together, the WTX range gives manufacturers a structured drilling platform for a wide range of applications, from standard holes to deep and process-critical drilling operations.
