WTX – Change Feed

WTX-Change Feed is CERATIZIT’s exchangeable-head drilling system for productive drilling in steel and cast iron. The system combines a replaceable solid carbide drill head with a hardened tool holder, giving users the performance of a carbide drill with the flexibility of a modular system.

Exchangeable-head system

The WTX-Change Feed system uses replaceable drill heads in diameters from 14.00 mm to 32.00 mm. The heads are available in 0.1 mm increments, allowing users to select the required hole diameter without replacing the complete tool body. This reduces carbide consumption and makes the system suitable for production environments where repeatability, tool cost and changeover time are important.

Three cutting edges for high feed rates

A key feature of WTX-Change Feed is its three-edged drill head. Compared with conventional two-edged drilling systems, this design supports higher feed rates and shorter cycle times. The drill head also has a self-centring chisel edge, which helps the tool enter the workpiece reliably and supports stable hole production.

Stable connection with Hirth coupling

The drill head is connected to the holder by a Hirth coupling. This connection is designed for stability and repeatability when changing heads. The hardened holder material adds rigidity, which is important when drilling at higher feed rates or in demanding machining conditions.

Coolant and chip evacuation

WTX-Change Feed is equipped with through-coolant as standard. Together with the three chip flutes, this supports chip evacuation and helps maintain process reliability during drilling. Efficient coolant delivery is especially important when drilling deeper holes or machining materials that generate difficult chips.

For difficult drilling conditions

WTX-Change Feed is suitable for hole depths including 3xD and 5xD, with 8xD also available in the product range. The system can be used for angled drilling up to 6 degrees and for interrupted cutting applications. This makes it suitable for components where entry and exit conditions are less than ideal, or where standard drilling systems reach their limits.
